ocr: What IS a black hole? LIGHT BEING SUCKED INI A black hole AL black hole is formed when a very heavy star dies (stops burning). When this happens, the star collapses in on itself, making an extremely dense object. Objects this dense have such a strong force of gravity that they even suck in light. This means that they are invisible, which is why they are known as black holes. However, black holes can be identitied because of the effects that they have on nearby stars.
